[08-16-2000] SBlake : saintly- I want to hook my new iMac G3 to my old HPDeskwriter 540. Problem is the software in on floppy and iMacs are floppy-driveless. My old Quadra 610 can't communicate with it either so I e-mailed the printer software from Quadra to iMac, installed it, but when I tell it to print, it freezes. I'm connecting through the ethernet phone-type connection by the way with a localtalk connector. What do you think might be happenning? Steve Blake blake@zianet.com

[08-17-2000] saintly : I've checked the HP support site to see what the potential problems might be. They recommend getting updated drivers for your operating system. The old drivers (on disk) are unlikely to work at all on newer versions of the operating system. An updated driver for MacOS 8 can be downloaded from:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/software/dw110en.hqx
The particular page for your question at the HP site is:
http://www.hp.com/cposupport/printers/support_doc/bpm06182.html
I hope that helps. Let me know if it doesn't, and I'll see what else I can find. That was very inventive to email yourself the software on disk!
