[07-29-2000] saintly : The 1961 movie "Blue Hawaii", starring Elvis Presley as "Chad Gates" seems to have had a relatively uneventful production run. There is a small continuity error; in the scene at the pineapple plantation the car door is open in one shot, but closed in the next.
Other bits of trivia about this movie:
Juliet Prowse, who co-starred with Elvis in "G.I. Blues", made too many demands in her contract and was replaced by Joan Blackman, who also appeared with Elvis in "Kid Galahad". Supposedly, Joan Blackman was the only actress with whom Elvis worked that he did not like
Angela Lansbury, then 35 years old, played Elvis' mother in the film (Elvis was then only ten years her junior)
One of the soundtrack albums for the movie was called "Hawaiian Sunrise". It should probably have been "Hawaiin Sunset" after the track with the same title.
The filming run seems to have gone fairly smoothly, especially compared to other Elvis movies like 'Wild in the Country' or 'Paradise Hawaiin Style'.
Hope that Helps
