[08-27-2000] bricks : I have a ghost icon of quicktime in my control panel. I can't delete it, Windows won't let me move it... so how do I remove it!?
[08-28-2000] saintly :
In windows 95 (possibly also in Win98), Go to your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder and look for a file called "QUICKTIME.CPL" (or similar). Move it somewhere else or delete it.

If you have Win98, you can download a program called TweakUI:

ftp://ftp.cmp.com/dist/wm/wmfiles/1998/9811nov/twekui98.exe

And install it. It installes a control panel called 'TweakUI'. In that control panel is a tab called 'Control Panel', and you can take the check box out of any control panel you no longer wish to see on the list.
