[08-16-2000] silverside1 : I once tried using Call-Wave for picking up my calls while I was using Internet. I did not get the results so I deleted. Now a lot of times I will lose my connection when someone is calling me while I am on line. Could you possible tell me what I can do to stop this. I have Win 98. I use Altavista and Netzero as main ISP's. Thanks so much. Calvin.

Go to Start->Settings->Control Panel. Open the one for Modem. Click the button that says 'Dialing Properties'. If it asks for your default location, what area code you are in, just enter it, click OK and close the window. Once you click on Dialing Properties again you should see a check box for "To disable call waiting" and a space next to it. Click the check box, and put

*70,

in the box. That should temporarily disable call waiting while you are surfing the net, and prevent it from disconnecting you.

If you do not see the check boxes after entering your area code and coming back, let me know. There are other ways to do the same thing.
